interessante revisarmos:
To itch = Coçar. Itching =
coceira.
Layer = Camada. Ex: The ozone
layer - a camada de ozônio.
Islet = Ilhota, pequena ilha.
To Leak = Vazar, escoar,
goteirar.
IOU = A short way to write (I owe you).
IRS = Internal Revenue.
Service = A Receita Federal Americana.
EPA = Environment Protection Agency =
O IBAMA americano.
To lean=To bend your body in a particular position.
To lessen = To become less or make something
become less. Atenuar, reduzir, diminuir.
Lens (sing) = lente ---- Lenses (plural) = lentes.
Liable = Passível, responsável por, legalmente
obrigado.
Lick = Lamber.
English Corner
Lid = Tampa (a cover for a box, pot or other
container).
Freckles = Sardas.
Mourning = Luto.
Mumps = An illness that causes fever and
swelling in the throat.
To mutter = Balbuciar, resmungar.
Nasty = Not pleasant to see, taste, smell etc.
Ex: That medicine has a nasty taste.
Oath = Juramento. A very serious promise.
Slang = Gíria.
Sip = Pequeno gole ou trago. Beber algo em
pequenos goles. Beber bem devagarinho.
Pallor = Palidez.
Diaphoretic = Com sudorese, transpiração.
Overlap = Sobrepor, sobreposição.
Leap year = Ano bissexto.
Deplete = To use all, consume, sap, use up.
Tomake or become no longer active or productive.
Ex: The emission of pollutants in the atmosphere
depletes the ozone layer.
